Bed and Breakfast in the Morvan National Park, Burgundy
The National park of the Morvan is a delightful area boasting a wide range of sporting activities. Hiking, road & mountain biking, fishing, horseriding are all very popular here. If you're not sporty, just enjoy a drive through the area admiring the wonderful views of the surrounding countryside & stop off for lunch at a local restaurant.
On a clear day it's worth driving to the summit of Mont Beuvray where, at 821m you will have spectacular views of the area. On the drive you will be able to stop off at several archaeological sites of interest.
Bibracte
Older than Autun is the original Roman settlement of Bibracte. Set on a plateau in the nearby Morvan hills, now a national park, this fascinating archaeological site was once home to 10,000 celts. Bibracte was eventually abandoned in favour of the site which was to become Autun. The original site, digs and museum are highly recommended.
